This is the first collection of photographs of the four seasons at Eikando Zenrin-ji Temple, which is famous throughout Japan as “Eikando of Maples. Eikando is always introduced during the autumn season, but until now, there has been no photo book of this beautiful autumn foliage. This book is composed of photographs taken over a period of two years to show the charm of Eikando Zenrin-ji Temple in spring, summer, autumn, and winter, with a focus on the beautiful autumn leaves, “Eikando in Green Maples” in early summer, “Eikando in Snow” in the eastern mountains, and “Eikando in Spring” with its plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and fresh greenery. The book also includes a photograph of “Mikaeri Amida,” the principal image of Eikando Zenrin-ji's famous Amida Nyorai (Amitabha Buddha), which faces sideways, as well as temple treasures, events, history, and other information. Photographed by Katsuhiko Mizuno, Shuhiko Mizuno, and Utayu Mizuno, three of Kyoto's leading photographers, this A4-size book is the first collection of photographs of the “Four Seasons of Eikando”.
