Yoshiyuki Okuyama × Mariko Okazaki × Sun-M Color “OPTICAL TACTILITY / windows

The moment you touch the cover, you will be thrilled by the texture of the skin. The work begins with a rough 3D reproduction of the texture of window glass, or perhaps we should say frosted glass, in Okuyama's “windows”. The textured, transparent pages are rolled up to reveal the original printed part of the work, and the textures created by SUNM's uniquely tuned Jet Press printer, a monster of an inkjet printer, are gruesome. The textures created by the Jet Press, a unique inkjet printer tuned by SUNM, are so three-dimensional that one cannot help but call it gruesome, even though gruesome is a negative connotation. Perhaps the designer Okazaki's goal was to eliminate emotion. By waving the needle as hard as he could at the texture, he removed emotion from the work and focused the viewer's gaze on the texture of the print. What unfolds is an overwhelmingly high level of printing. The printing power of San-Em, which folds up at once at the cue of Okazaki's waving tact. The 32 pages give a sense of presence that is hard to believe.
