Catalog of the exhibition “Rei Naito: Depressing Creation” at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. Photographer Naoya Hatakeyama photographed the exhibition space, which is composed of various exhibition rooms of various sizes, a light garden, and a passageway connecting them. The composition allows visitors to trace the transition from natural light during the day to the evening and beyond.

Rei Naito Born in Hiroshima in 1961 and currently based in Tokyo, Naito graduated from Musashino Art University in 1985 with a degree in Visual Communication Design, and in 1991 attracted attention with her work “One Place on Earth,” which was shown at the Exibit Space in Sagacho. In 1997, he exhibited the same work at the Japanese Pavilion of the 47th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition. Major solo exhibitions include “Waiting for the Sunny Day to Come” at the National Museum of Art, Osaka (1995), “Being Called” at the Carmelite Monastery, Frankfurt (1997), and “All Animals Exist in the World Just Like Water in the Water” at the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura (1997).
